Daycare Center<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

At a daycare center, childcare consists of groups of children aged 0 to 4 years old. A daycare center also offers before-school, during-school, and after-school care. <\/p>\n\n

The number of pedagogical staff will depend on the number of children in the group and their age. Usually, a group consists of 2 or 3 pedagogical staff members. At a daycare center, pedagogical staff often work part-time, so your child will see several different faces throughout the week. <\/p>\n\n

All staff members must hold a Level 3 pedagogical staff diploma. A Certificate of Conduct must also be present. The location must also comply with hygiene and safety regulations. The GGD conducts an annual inspection here. <\/p>\n\n

Childminder Care<\/a><\/h2>\n\n

At a childminder care facility, childcare consists of a group of children aged 0 to 4 years old. However, children up to 12 years old can also be present here during before-school, during-school, and after-school care.<\/p>\n\n

The childminder will be the only face these children see. The group will never be larger than 6 children. The exact composition of the group depends on the age of the children. <\/p>\n\n

The main difference with childminder care compared to a daycare center is that the children stay in a home-like atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n

A childminder must also have at least a Level 3 pedagogical staff diploma or have obtained a certificate to be allowed to be a childminder. The childminder must also possess a certificate for first aid for accidents involving children (this certificate must be renewed every 2 years). The childminder must also be registered in the National Register of Childcare and Playgroups<\/a> and must be affiliated with a childminder agency. <\/p>\n\n

Childminder care is inspected by the GGD before the start of childcare. This inspection is also repeated regularly to ensure that the location and the number of children comply with regulations. <\/p>\n\n
